Business situation (Why customer came to us)
Communication between the client and the other vendor
I reviewed the epubs and they look great except there is one problem, they are basically still PDFs. I need them to be in a format where the text can be enlarged and shrunk. If you look at the examples of that I sent, you will find this is the case.
I am unable to enlarge or shrink the text. This is especially a problem with mobile devices. I also noticed that the tables of contents are not done correctly. They should be broken down by chapters. Please review the examples that I sent you and look at the TOC. When they click on a chapter, it should take them there. If there are sub sections of the chapter, it should take them there.
This is disappointing.
You have no idea of how angry I am right now that you have spent all of this time on this project and this is what you have sent me.
I received an email from you on Friday stating that you were going through the last bit of quality control and then you would send me the publication. What you have sent me is absolute garbage and I will explain to you why it is garbage.
You failed to list the titles on the epub. When I open it, it reads unknown author.
When it opens, the first thing I should be seeing is the cover. I do not.
Regarding the cover, it looks nothing like the actual cover.
The Table of Contents is not actually listed where it should be. Instead I have Table of Contents, then Evans Games Front, Evans GnG Act Games in Gods World and Evans Games Back. I haven’t the slightest idea of where you got this from.
There are large gaps between headers and content.
There are tables that are missing content.
The actual content formatting is atrocious.
When I sent you the initial requirements, I showed you an example of what the completed epub is supposed to look like with regards to formatting, table of contents, etc.
I am offended that you could possibly think that you could send me a product as inferior as this and think this is acceptable work. I am in the process of trying to contact Dave to express my complete disgust.
After these heated communication’s the client came back to us to take this further and we are running this process for past three months without any trouble and we sorted all the issues the client had with the other vendor.
Converting PDF file into Epub format, monthly 30-35 books, this is a ongoing project. The challenge here was the client requested for the Epub file to be formatted exactly as it is in the printed or pdf format. The E-publications had certain limitation while accepting the html file with tags which makes the Epub invalid, so we used certain manual tagging and created software to zip the Epub files into right order to make the Epub valid.
